Sheepadoodle

Sheepadoodle

Sheepadoodles are a mixed breed that results from crossing an Old English Sheepdog and a poodle. They’ve become more popular in recent years because of their super-friendly personalities, low-shedding coats, and teddy bear-like appearance.

The History of the
Sheepadoodle

The Sheepadoodle is a relatively new breed of dog that emerged in the 1990s in the United States. The goal of breeders was to combine the intelligence, hypoallergenic coat, and trainability of the Poodle with the gentle nature and unique appearance of the Old English Sheepdog.

The Old English Sheepdog is an old breed from England, originally bred for herding sheep, but quickly became popular as a family pet because of their friendly nature and shaggy appearance.

Poodles were originally bred as water retrievers for hunting and are highly trainable and intelligent, with a hypoallergenic coat.

The result of this combination brings us the Sheepadoole, with a hypoallergenic coat,  high intelligence, trainability, and gentle nature, making them a great choice for families.

What Makes
Sheepadoodles
Unique

These adorable pups make great family dogs, as well as companions for single-person households. If you want a lovable, protective, and energetic puppy who will always keep you entertained and your home safe, the Sheepadoodle may be the right dog for you!

The Sheepadoodle's natural ability to read human emotions so well leads them to be great therapy or emotional support dogs.

Thanks to their Poodle genes, sheepadoodles are highly intelligent, making them quick learners in obedience training, agility, and other dog sports.

Their loyal and protective nature stemming from their Old English Sheepdog genes, leads sheepadoodles to be protective of their “flock” or family when they sense danger, making them a prime choice for families with small children.

Living with a
Sheepadoodle

Living with a Sheepadoodle in the home can be a wonderful experience. Their friendly and affectionate nature makes them great companions for families and individuals alike. Sheepadoodles are known for their devotion to their owners, often forming strong bonds, leading them to be protective of their families, making them great watchdogs. Their gentle and patient nature makes them a great addition to a family with children and other pets.

Sheepadoodles are energetic and require regular exercise, which is important for their physical and mental health. They love to play and can be quite playful, so having a yard or a park nearby is ideal. The thick and curly coat of a Sheepadoodle does require regular brushing to prevent matting and tangling.

*Important*

The poodle lightens over time, but it is impossible to say which way any given pup will go. We do not want anyone to be disappointed or to feel deceived, so we want to make sure you are aware of this tendency before purchasing. In the face of this happening frequently to our pups as they age, they remain the most popular of our breeds as they are very winsome and have personalities that make it all worthwhile 😉
